Duration: 7 minutes

Program note:

This work represents a conflation of an older work, Joie, for guitar and string trio, with the current work, drawing on the music of Joy Division. After a robust introduction, a theme drawn from the Joy Division song "Disorder" is subjected to a set of divisions, or variations comprised of decreasing note values that increase the speed of the surface texture. A brief quotation from one of the song's guitar 'licks' follows, and then the piece closes with the same ebullience with which it began.

Concert Premiere: May 2010, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, by Dan Lippel.
